Lunch at The Fig Tree Restaurant, Eumundi

Lunch at Eumundi

We had a lovely lunch at Eumundi attended by eleven Sirens. Sue certainly chose a good spot for us. The menu had lots to offer for all tastes, and was enjoyed by all.
Yvonne could barely contain her excitement about the birth of her gorgeous first grandchild, Lily. She is looking forward to more cuddles of her chubby cheeked delight in the near future. TC's daughter has also safely delivered a little boy (TC's first grandchild), but TC will have to wait to go over to England before getting a proper cuddle of her new bundle of joy.
We also welcomed Linda to officially become a Siren. This was her fourth outing with us, and we hope there'll be many more!

The Sunshine Sirens Members Profile: Baroness of Burgundy (Kim B)

Baroness of Burgundy (Kim B)
The Baroness wins a prize

Kim chose her red hat name because of her love of the colour burgundy (she even got married wearing it!).....so while some ladies struggle to find an appropriate name, it was a no-brainer for Kim.
Kim was drawn into red hatting by Dame Billie T (Barb... whom she has known since early childhood) after moving from Brisbane to live in Maleny.

Kim has five children and three grandchildren (and counting). Only her youngest still lives at home. (she says: any takers?)
Kim grew up in a small town and after many years of city living has escaped to the country to follow her dream of a more connected lifestyle.

She has many interests and hobbies to keep her busy. The most recent acquisition is three spinning wheels! She has a large bag of Alpaca wool (bought along with the wheels and some lessons) that we'll expect to see turned into some sort of garment in the future.
She's rediscovered a passion for reading, now that she has a little more time on her hands at last, and joining a local book club has broadened her choice of genres and been another avenue of new friendships.

Like many others in our group, Kim loves to travel. She and her husband joined the grey nomads for eighteen months, taking their off-road caravan for an extended trip down the Eastern states  all the way to Tassie, sometimes stopping long enough to work and keep the coffers  (and fuel tank) filled.
They've also been lucky enough to travel quite extensively in Europe and the UK. Catching up with long time pen friends in Malmesbury (UK) and Wales were highlights of these trips. She  claims that it IS possible to have seen enough castles (Barb doesn't believe her!)

The Sunshine Sirens Members Profile: Lady Spillalot (Julie)

Lady Spillalot

Add caption

Julie changed her Red Hat name from Countess Champagne (she does enjoy a wee drop of champagne) to Lady Spillalot on the recommendation of one of her sons. It is an entirely appropriate name as some of us have discovered. On one particularly memorable episode of spillage, the person sitting beside Julie wore the best part of a full glass of red wine on her white pants, the rest dripping down onto a car parked under the verandah they were sitting on! Napisan Plus fixed the pants. The car .... well it needed a wash anyway. There was much laughter, as there always is anytime you are around Julie ..... she has a wicked sense of humour too.

Julie has two sons and five grandchildren (so far) and her family and husband are the most important part of her life. She always has a lot of fun when the grandkids visit. She's known as "Grandma Bubbles" because she always has a supply of bubble wands to blow bubbles with the kids.

Julie always wanted to be a nurse and she has a long and successful career in this field. She has the gift of being able to analyse, prioritise, delegate and manage challenging situations in her job. She still works full time in Operating Theatre at Nambour Hospital. Although she takes her job seriously she doesn't take herself too seriously .... she loves to dress up as a nun or clown or in her red hat finery and throw herself into any fun going. Red Hats is the perfect outlet for her.

Julie adores travel. She's undertaken some amazing overseas trips with her husband, and there's still plenty more on her bucket list. Next on the list are some cruises - The Whitsundays, New Zealand and Asia are on the drawing board before retirement.

Meanwhile, Julie seizes life with both hands. When she's on a mission to shop she's gotten some canny bargains through ebay. Julie's stash of bling, hats, shoes and clothes is growing like topsy and there is now a dedicated wardrobe in her spare room. She's looking forward to the Gaggle and Giggle and time away with friends getting to know them better.

The Sunshine Sirens Members Profile: Lady Carolyn of Southern Comfort & Shooz (Carolyn)

Lady Carolyn of Southern Comfort & Shooz (Carolyn)

Lady Carolyn of Southern Comfort & Shooz

Carolyn has taken to Red Hatting like a duck to water and with her penchant for shoes, she is often the envy of us all in her glitzy stilettos. Luckily her favourite colour is also red, so her hat and fascinator collection has quickly grown to ten, and she loves nothing more than hunting the shops for a bargain of bling, clothes or fripperies to expand her Red Hat wardrobe.

Carolyn began work at fifteen as a shop assistant at David Jones, but her teenage dream was to become a Mum and a Nurse. She has three children and four grandchildren who are the light of her life. She spends a lot of time with them, following their sporting interests (all do very well in the Nippers) and her granddaughter also does ballet.

Carolyn's hobbies are cooking and she also loves going to the gym. Maybe the one counterbalances the other....as she remains trim and fit after working so hard at weight loss some years ago.  She also does cake decorating and does some amazing cakes for her families' special occasions.

Her favourite holiday place is Hervey Bay and in 2015 she's like to go away on a long holiday break somewhere. She loves going away to Giggles with the girls too, as well as any weekends away that she can.
